In our section 'Employees in the spotlight' we like to show which people are behind our organisation. Every day Archive-IT is committed to support organisations in the transition from a paper to a digital working environment. Besides that we develop software to guarantee safe digital accessibility. But who does what? And what are the motivations of the Archive-IT team members? Time for a look behind the scenes.

This time Sylvie Ulmer is in the spotlight. Sylvie has been with Archive-IT for 32 years as Sales Support for our French office. We would like to introduce her to you!

How long have you been working at Archive-IT and what did you do before this?

"I started as an administrative and office secretary, which I did for four years in a law firm. I then chose to make the switch to Jalema, which then became Archive-IT. When I started, I was responsible for physical archiving solutions and the expansion of our network of distributors. I worked with the Sales department to increase sales of archiving systems for graphic arts professionals. I participated in numerous international trade shows in: Paris, Lyon, Brussels and Düsseldorf. I also focused on specific archiving systems, which were mainly intended for hospitals, administrations and private companies. When Jalema became Archive-IT, I continued this work. I have enjoyed working in the sales office for 32 years now!"

Can you tell us something about your position at Archive-IT?

"I work in the Sales department in France, where I am mainly involved in the sale of medical and administrative records, and physical archiving solutions. The daily tasks include: managing orders, invoicing, preparing quotes, responding to calls for tenders, following up leads and increasing customer loyalty. In addition, I am always looking for new opportunities in the market. For me, it is very important to help (potential) customers by answering their questions and listening carefully to their archiving problem; only then can I offer a suitable solution."

What does your average working day look like?

"I always start my working day by checking my e-mail, as almost everyone does. Then I prioritise the tasks that need to be done, order confirmations with deadlines and customer requests have the highest priority. I also make sure to replenish our stock so that we don't run out of products. A satisfied customer is the ultimate goal, and this also builds customer loyalty, which is what I strive for every day. I really enjoy the contact with the customer while doing my job, but also all the different and independent tasks my job offers me!"

What motivates you most in your work?

"Some customers need tailor-made advice. I find it fun and challenging to find out how I can best serve this customer. If I then meet the customer's requirements perfectly with my advice, I have achieved my goal. That is what motivates me most in my work! I would like to emphasise that I very much appreciate the gratitude of our customers!"

Nice to know: once a week Sylvie goes to the pool with her friends in the evening to do aqua gymnastics. Music is played during this workout, which makes her give it her all. She has been doing this for two years now and she likes it a lot.

What are your goals for the future?

"Our field of work is constantly changing. With the increasing digitalisation in France, there are plenty of challenges. Fortunately, as an organisation we are equipped for both physical and digital archiving solutions. I look forward to work with my colleagues on new technologies and digital archiving solutions to help customers in the best possible way. This will make it interesting for me personally, but most of all, it will be instructive to learn more about our software and technology in the future."
