In our section ‘Employees in the spotlight’ we like to show which people are behind our organization. Every day Archive-IT is committed to support organisations in the transition from a paper to a digital working environment. Besides that, we develop software to guarantee safe digital accessibility. But who does what? And what are the motivations of the Archive-IT team members? Time for a look behind the scenes.

This time Peter van Burger is in the spotlight. Peter is Marketing Manager for Archive-IT since February 2023. We would like to introduce him to you!

How long have you been working at Archive-IT and what did you do before that?

''I have been working at Archive-IT since the first of February, so not that long yet. Before this, I have always been closely involved in the marketing and communication activities of my previous employers. I worked for 15 years at a company that develops software to enable digital screen communication, also known as narrowcasting. Think of the system we use at Archive-IT for internal communication and to welcome customers. I then worked for another year and a half at a startup focused on developing smart lighting. I had a great time there but was still curious what else the world had to offer. This is how I ended up at Archive-IT. What particularly attracted me was that it said you have to like a full agenda and that the work was very diverse. That is what I was really looking for, something I could put all my energy into.''

Can you tell us a bit more about your position at Archive-IT?

''I am responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring our marketing and communication plans for both Archive-IT and Van Dinther, our sister company. Monitoring the corporate identity of the companies that fall under The International Information Management Group (TIIMG) is also part of my job. Of course, I don't do that alone.''

''We have a nice and balanced marketing team, in which all marketing expertise comes together nicely. With Kelly, we have someone who stands out in many areas and is graphicly very strong. That is a great addition to our copywriting, which in turn makes me very happy. We now also have Bas and Femke in the marketing team. They are both in the process of graduating, but also participate in the operational side. This mainly concerns content creation and processing our leads. I myself am also involved in their graduation projects as an internship supervisor. That makes my work even more diverse.''

''Together, we work every day to put Archive-IT in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France and Van Dinther on the map as well as possible and to generate the right leads for our sales colleagues.''

What does your average working day look like?

''I must honestly say that it is difficult to describe an average working day. Mainly because my job is very varied. In any case, it is important to prioritise and divide the work. There is also a lot of coordination with our sales colleagues. I'm talking, for instance, about preparing and executing online campaigns, or event support. But creating and editing our content also takes up a large part of my time. I am also involved in the SEA and SEO process, and we are constantly optimising our websites. In addition, internal communication is very important. Through mailings, news items on our internal portal and our displays, we keep our colleagues involved in the organisation. In short, my days are different every day!''

What motivates you most while working?

''Working together! I think it is very important to have good contact both with your team and everyone else. It sounds cliché but you still achieve the best results together. Occasionally I also like to work at home, for example when I'm creating content, read writing texts. But I like having people around me, which keeps the lines of communication nice and short. Although a lot can also be done via Teams, which also works fine. Making a positive contribution with our marketing and communication activities together with the team is what motivates me most. Plus, I can annoy everyone with my bad humour, which is also not unimportant!''

Nice to know: Peter is a real rock and metal lover. Peter used to be a real metalhead and that's what he used to look like according to him. Long dreadlocks, piercings, black nail polish and all the trimmings, 100% the opposite of what he looks like now. Peter also used to be in bands. He is now less involved in music, which he finds very unfortunate. He still goes to festivals and concerts and plays guitar regularly. He is also a real smart home nerd, always looking for the latest gadgets to make his home smarter.

What are your goals for the near future?

''The short-term goal for me is to become familiar with everything and everyone within Archive-IT and Van Dinther as soon as possible. I also want to create great things with the marketing team that have a positive impact on the organisation.''
