In our section: 'Employee in the Spotlight,' we are pleased to showcase the people behind our organization. Every day, Archive-IT is committed to supporting organizations in the transition from a paper-based to a digital working environment. In addition, software is developed to ensure secure digital accessibility. But who does what? And what motivates the team members at Archive-IT? Time for a look behind the scenes.
In the March edition of ‘Employee in the Spotlight,’ Laura Schroën was nominated. We are pleased to introduce Laura to you!
How Did You End Up at Archive-IT?
I was looking for a new challenge and signed up with a temp agency at the time. I then responded to a job vacancy and within a few days, I was told I could start soon. Together with a group of girls, I started at Archive-IT, learning to clean up files. At first, it was a bit of an adjustment, like removing all the staples from the files, sticking post-its, etc. As time went on, I took on more responsibilities, both at Archive-IT and Jalema. Then last year, I was asked if I would like to take on the role of receptionist, and I wholeheartedly said yes!
Can You Tell Us Something About Your Current Role?
As a receptionist, you are the first point of contact for a company, both by phone and in person. It is my job to give everyone a personal and warm welcome at Archive-IT.
My tasks are very diverse. In addition to my regular duties, I occasionally assist the sales and marketing department, which makes my work varied and dynamic.
What Gives You Satisfaction in Your Work?
I continuously challenge myself. Every week is different and brings new surprises. To be prepared for this, I always try to stay ahead of schedule. So when I unexpectedly receive an extra task, I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that I can complete it because I’ve already finished my own tasks ahead of time. This is very motivating.
Additionally, I get a lot of satisfaction from interacting with my colleagues. Everyone here is very open, and if you have a question, all doors are open. I truly appreciate this!
Nice to know: Laura is a true Formula 1 fan, and she cheers for Lewis Hamilton!
What Does Your Average Workday Look Like?
I am responsible for all incoming phone calls. Sometimes I can assist the caller myself and greet them politely, and if not, I transfer them to the appropriate colleague. In addition, it is my job to welcome all visitors to Archive-IT, register them in our system, and, if they are entering secured areas, have them sign a confidentiality agreement. I also take care of the administration and the necessary checks related to this.
I also have various administrative tasks, such as logging the hours of temporary workers, and I support other departments with a variety of tasks.
Finally, I have some facility-related tasks to ensure that no one is left wanting. I take care of orders to keep stock in check, make sure all refrigerators are properly stocked, and ensure that our organization looks presentable! All in all, I truly have a varied job!
For next month, you get to nominate someone for the spotlight. Who would you like to nominate and why?
I think it would be really great to nominate Juul Rovers to be in the spotlight next. Juul is my colleague at the front desk, and I’m actually very curious about how she experiences working at the front desk. Additionally, Juul has recently returned from maternity leave, and this spotlight seems like the perfect way to reintroduce her within Archive-IT.
