Some time ago, a targeted DDoS attack was carried out on one of Intermax’s clients. This client uses the same facilities as Archive-IT at Intermax. Thanks to the high level of information and system security, Intermax was able to reroute the attack, preventing it from affecting multiple clients, including Archive-IT.
Intermax
At Archive-IT, information security is of paramount importance. It is crucial that our software solutions, which are hosted in the cloud, are provided by a highly reliable and certified specialist. We found this specialist in Intermax. Intermax is the most certified cloud-sourcing company in the Netherlands. Their handling of the recent DDoS attack proves that they fully live up to this reputation.
What is a DDoS attack?
A DDoS attack is typically targeted at a specific goal. In the case of a DDoS attack, the network becomes overloaded, and the servers become unreachable. As a result, the central firewall infrastructure can hardly function, and services such as email, DNS, and other connections may become slow or unusable. Therefore, it is essential to quickly identify which target the attack is aimed at. Thanks to NaWas, Intermax can quickly detect abnormalities in the normal traffic pattern and take action. NaWas consists of a large amount of equipment from renowned brands and can route the attacked provider’s traffic through that equipment for a thorough "wash." The result: the provider receives the "clean" traffic back.
NaWas
Intermax participates in the National Anti-DDoS Wash (NaWas). This is a joint initiative by the National Internet Providers Management Organization (NBIP) and the Dutch Hosting Provider Association (DHPA). NaWas consists of a large amount of specialized anti-DDoS equipment at a central, highly secure location. This facility can automatically combat DDoS traffic within minutes. This process is called mitigation.
