The Social Fund of Archive-IT donates every quarter to (local) good causes and meaningful initiatives. We are able to do this because all employees set aside a portion of their profit share, which is then doubled by the management. In the second quarter of 2020, we made several donations, and we would like to inform you about them. Additionally, due to the Corona pandemic, we initiated extra donations and initiatives to support local entrepreneurs, residents of the region, and the Food Bank of Midden-Limburg.
STOPhersentumoren
There is still so much to achieve. A world without brain tumors. Stichting STOPhersentumoren.nl works every day towards achieving this ambition and dream. Scientists around the world are continuously searching for solutions. They are making great strides in understanding brain tumors better, as understanding them is key to solving, modifying, or even stopping them. Annually, around 260,000 people worldwide are diagnosed with a brain tumor, including about 2,400 people in the Netherlands. More than 12 people die every day in the Netherlands due to a brain tumor.
Stichting Support Casper
Every year, 3,000 Dutch people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Eight people die from this disease every day. The chance of survival is very low, with only 7% living long-term. Stichting Overleven met Alvleesklierkanker was founded to raise money for innovative research into new treatments. Support Casper was started by a group of friends of a deceased patient to make viroimmunotherapy possible. In 2016, the campaign was incorporated into the Foundation, where a small team works towards realizing a dream: to put an end to the devastating effects of pancreatic cancer.
DierenLot Stichting
In the Netherlands, there are still many neglected, abused, and abandoned animals in need. Stichting DierenLot is deeply concerned about the plight of these animals and wants to help them. They particularly support small and medium-sized local and regional organizations, such as animal shelters, rescue centers, and animal ambulance services. They also have their own DierenLot animal ambulances, which are used to rescue animals in distress.
Duchenne 40
In September, Bart van Riet turns 40. This is a very special milestone for someone with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. On Saturday, September 12, money will be raised for Duchenne by cycling. Due to the current situation, everyone can participate in their own way. You can cycle at least 40 km, either in your own neighborhood, on the road bike, or virtually on a stationary bike. The event will be streamed live on YouTube. This is a beautiful initiative, and we are happy to contribute!
Stichting Opkikker
Stichting Opkikker is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. For 25 years, they have been creating bright spots for families with a child who has a long-term illness. The Opkikker days are full of activities tailored to the family situation. This includes big parties, helicopter rides, driving in cool cars, or dressing up as a real princess. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the Opkikker days have been canceled. However, behind the scenes, they are working hard to provide families with a sick child a bright spot during these challenging times.
Stichting Team Jayme
Jayme is one year old and has the severe muscle disease SMA type 1. With SMA, a piece of DNA that helps you use your muscles is damaged. Most children with SMA type 1 do not live past two years old. The world’s most expensive medicine can fix this DNA. However, in order to receive this treatment, a procedure in Budapest is required. The target amount of €2,198,000 has almost been reached, and we are supporting Jayme with a financial contribution.
You too can suggest charitable causes that could benefit from a one-time donation. These will be reviewed by the Social Fund, and who knows, we may be able to help. Together we are strong! Contact us at sociaalfonds@archive-it.nl.
