The Social Fund of Archive-IT donates every quarter to (local) good causes and initiatives. We are able to do this because all employees set aside a portion of their profit share, which is then doubled by the management. In the third quarter of 2020, we made several donations, which we would like to inform you about. This quarter was dedicated to many good causes and initiatives in and around Reuver!
Taalpunt Reuver
The Taalcafé is for anyone for whom Dutch is not their first language but who wants to improve their Dutch speaking and reading skills. It is also for anyone whose first language is Dutch and who wants to help others (migrant workers, refugees) improve their Dutch, as well as meet people from different cultures.
Speeltuin Kitskensberg
Located on the outskirts of Roermond is the Kitskensberg playground. Around 80 different play equipment pieces offer lots of fun and varied play environments. The playground is managed by volunteers, which helps keep the entry fees low. There are also volunteers who face barriers to employment, and they work hard every day to ensure everyone has a great day at the playground!
Stichting Sôkkertante
Stichting Sôkkertante is the toy bank in the Venlo region, which ensures that underprivileged children can receive toys. Many people in the Venlo region still live below the poverty line. There is no money to buy toys for their children. A group of mothers took the initiative to collect toys, giving children the opportunity to regularly choose toys.
DierenRijck Reuver
In Reuver, there is the DierenRijck, a small animal park with a modest setup. The DierenRijck is managed by volunteers, and the animals are cared for by clients of PSW with great dedication! It has been around for decades and brings fond memories to many residents of Reuver. The donation will be used to purchase a new submersible pump as the old one broke, and it is used to pump out the duck pond.
Containers of Love
Lebanese Sumeya Hamie from Roermond was with her family in Beirut when a massive explosion occurred at the port on August 4. Sumeya has organized a fundraising campaign to support the people of Beirut. Containers of Love will help restore and clean homes and distribute food packages and clothing to people in need.
Hartstichting
The Netherlands has 1.55 million heart and vascular patients. Every week, 300 people outside the hospital suffer from a heart attack. When a heart attack occurs, the chance of survival is highest if resuscitation and AED use begin within six minutes. As a rescue partner of the Hartstichting, we are committed to creating a heart-safe environment. We do this by offering our employees a resuscitation course, preparing them for a heart attack in the vicinity. In this way, we can save lives!
Het Vergeten Kind
The cycling, mountain biking, running, and walking event called ‘Tour d’Extravaganza’ is organized annually. Several days are dedicated to covering a significant number of kilometers. The event will take place in the Netherlands in 2020 due to COVID-19. The event supports 'Het Vergeten Kind'; this foundation assists and cares for children with difficult backgrounds. The sister of one of our colleagues will run 4×21 km. Sonja had a sweater printed with the Archive-IT logo & other sponsors!
You too can suggest charitable causes that could benefit from a one-time donation. These will be reviewed by the Social Fund, and who knows, we may be able to help. Together we are strong! Contact us at sociaalfonds@archive-it.nl.
